I’m Zoe Srebnick, and I’m a clinical intern working under the direct supervision of Emily Gordon MSW, MEd, LCSW, CST. I am currently completing my final year as a master’s candidate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a sex therapy certificate at Adler University.
I believe that the quality of our relationships and social connectedness influence our overall health and well-being.
Zoe’s Approach to Relationship and Sex Therapy
Zoe Srebnick is a master’s student pursuing their last year in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and working toward their Sex Therapy Certification at Adler University. Zoe completed a Social Justice Practicum with the Center for Positive Sexuality, where they developed sexuality educational materials, raised awareness of various sexual health issues through social media, and attended positive sexuality panels with members of the center. They are also a current member of the American Counseling Association.
Zoe has a warm, welcoming, and collaborative approach to therapy. They believe that successful therapy requires a collaborative relationship between the therapist and the client that is built on trust and mutual respect. Zoe uses a holistic approach to therapy, combining systemic, narrative, humanistic, feminist, and positive sexuality theories. Zoe enjoys working with individuals, couples, as well as polyamorous, non-monogamous, and LGBTQ+ clients. Her clinical interests include supporting clients with gender identity exploration, mismatched sexual desire, navigating multicultural identities, performance anxiety, sexual functioning, and relationship transitions (exploring non-monogamy, lifestyle, or dealing with change).
Before joining Embrace Sexual Wellness, Zoe trained as an actor and collaborated with local Chicago theaters. She decided to pursue a career in psychology after becoming aware of the need for better sexual wellness and mental health care. As a multicultural person who moved to the United States as a young adult, Zoe understands the influence someone’s cultural background has on their relationships, values, beliefs, and life choices. Through this awareness, Zoe invites clients to share their whole selves and explore how their identities intersect. Zoe’s professional experience includes working as a clinical intake coordinator in private practice and higher-level-of-care facilities, which taught her how to effectively help clients find support in the immediate aftermath of a crisis.
